MSc in Computer Vision

This programme offers training in the analysis and interpretation of images and videos by covering state-of-the-art image processing, computer vision and machine learning methodologies. Moreover, it offers high-level training in programming languages, tools and methods that are necessary for the design and implementation of practical computer vision systems. An advanced MSc project that can be undertaken in collaboration with one of our industrial collaborators completes the programme.

The MSc in Computer Vision offers two MSc fee waivers on a competitive basis. In addition to this we will award two PhD fee waivers for top ranked students in this MSc who desire to continue into our PhD programme.

Moreover, International Science and Engineering Excellence Awards for the value of either £2,000 or £5,000 per year are available to reward academic achievement, and help attract the brightest and best students from overseas.

MSc in Internet of Things

This innovative Internet of Things (IoT) MSc programme will help you adapt to become one of the highly skilled and in-demand engineers who are able to fully exploit the potential that these technologies offer.

The Internet of Things (IoT) focuses on a vision of more connected, different, things (or digital devices) than in previous visions of the Internet. More ‘things’ are part of the physical world that connect to form smart environments. Humans are constantly increasing the frequency and range of 'things' (sensors, tags, cards, phones, actuator, wearables) they interact with in the world. Machine-to-machine interaction will allow more physical things to interact with other things without human intervention for scalability.

The MSc in IoT is designed to meet the demand for a new kind of IT specialist and skills, those who can:

  1. engineer new interactive products – things;
  2. acquire, fuse and process the data they collect from things;
  3. interact with, and interconnect these things as part of larger, more diverse, systems.

MSc in Big Data Science

This programme provides students with the skills to become a Data Scientist. A Data Scientist is a highly skilled professional, who is able to combine state-of-the-art computer science techniques for processing massive amounts of data with modern methods of statistical analysis to extract understanding from data. The MSc modules cover the fundamental statistical (e.g. data mining, machine learning) and technological tools (e.g. cloud platforms, Hadoop) for large-scale data analysis, as well as the domain-specific knowledge from specific application domains (Computer Vision, Social Network Analysis, Internet of Things, Bio Engineering). The program includes an MSc project where these skills can be applied to real use cases, in collaboration with industry partners.

MSc by Research

An MSc by Research provides you with the necessary skills to undertake research, either in an academic or industrial environment. You will have the opportunity to develop further research and technical skills and to demonstrate a level of independence that is greater than developed on a purely taught programme. The programme is suitable for outstanding students who have an interest in advanced research-based study in Intelligent Sensing.
